Panorama - the theme tune always seemed far more urgent, up to date and important than the content.

If you lived in Pigeon Street,
Here are the people you could meet,
Here are the people who would say
Hello, Goodbye, Hello, Goodbye
Every day
If you lived in Pigeon Street,
Here are the people you could meet,
Here are the people who would share
the sights, the sounds, the air
Where pigeons beat their wings, wings beat.
Pigeons beat their wings, wings beat
to meet in Pigeon Street

The Sopranos. The opening bass line is sufficient to cause abdmominal distress if played loudly enough.

QI - the only show where I always listen to the opening credits every time.
One Foot IN The Grave (but maybe just because it is stuck in my head this morning)
Robinson Crusoe - the dubbed (from French, I think) version that was on in the 70's in the UK. Many fond memories of lying on the sofa with my girlfriend, watching the parrot go "Poooooooor Rooobin!" and trying to, what I believe is currently known as, 'cop a feel'.

I didn't 'rediscover' them; I came across them for the first time last year. Had no cable TV growing up (don't even have a TV now, out of choice though) but the wife did.
She told me about it last year and that's how I saw some of the episodes.

This is not a question on what to use, but a note of something I found.
Qizx.NET[^], which is (apparently) a port of the Java library called Qizx/Open, which (unfortunately) has been discontinued ( ). I have just started playing with it, but it looks promising.

It's the Java version that got discontinued. The .NET version seems to work quite well.
