Just to add: the most common causes of death in the 24th Century would appear to be:
1) Wearing a red shirt.
2) Death by exploding workstation.

I'd like to make a small survey.
Who's watching A Dinner for One[^] for New Years?
I don't necessarily mean yourself personally, but is it a tradition in your country?
I know for sure it's a common tradition at least in Sweden, Germany and Switzerland, but where else?
Oh, and a Happy New Year for all!

|
|
|
|
I will now

Not a tradition here, and not even broadcast to the best of my knowledge, despite the royal family being Germans...
Personally, I have seen it before, and don't find it that funny - I can't see why anyone would want to watch it every year (but there is no accounting for tastes, and I'm sure we have as many traditions that would look bizarre in other countries).

I believe it helps that everyone is being drunk at 10 PM New years eve and knowing it by heart.

I think we're having dinner for 12, so I will too busy and probably too pished to focus on the bottle let alone a tv.

Our hostess just screamed "Oysters!" from the kitchen then ran out of the front door. I think it will be a good New Year celebration.

Last time we were here for New Year. 4 dozen oysters entered the kitchen to be opened for the started. By the time I finished opening them and checking the few that looked dodgy only about two dozen remained. No idea what happened to them.

We don't do it here in the states...we don't want to offend anyone.
And we've lost our sense of humor.

There's a fine line between crazy and free spirited and it's usually a prescription.
I'm currently unsupervised, I know it freaks me out too but the possibilities are endless.

That is "Boldog Uj Évet Kivanok!" or "Happy New Year" in Hungarian. As the phrase is too bloody long and far too hard to say even sober, all but every Magyar will shout "BUÉK!" at the given hour.
So will I as an adopted Hungarian.
