It will probably be Dara O'Briain ... he's headline for 75% of BBC output these days.
|
|
|
|
|
Wouldn't surprise me if they went with Graham Norton - he's on the other 25%.

Or they could dig up Carol Vorderman - she was taking over TV just before she got the axe from Countdown.

They should make Clarkson do community service. Perhaps as a presenter on some show, maybe about cars or something.

Alan Partridge would be the best, most people wouldn't notice the presenter had changed. Whoever they choose or whatever they do won't work.

It's time for them to have the Stig in the mainstream now.

Their has to be some criteria
popular with the guardinista (Stephen Fry?)
popular with the trendy left (Johnathan Ross?)
outspoken - but in an acceptable way for the BBC (Russell Brand?)
Left wing comedian (Dara OBrien)
OTT left wing comedian (Frankie Boyle)
All would seem suitable for the BBC

You can't have some bluddy forrigner taking over quintessentially English roles!
Could you imagine the mess that a planky, for example, would make of Doctor Who or James Bond?
Oh.
For one of them, you don't have to imagine[^].

Jeremy Clarkson dropped from Top Gear, BBC confirms [^]
As much as I enjoy watching this, in particular, to see Clarkson, I think the BBC have done the right thing, albeit that it may cost them huge revenue losses - you can't let someone in his position do what he did without consequence.
I'm also sure that it won't take Clarkson long to come back through another show/channel.

|
|

That's the end of Top Gear as a funny program then - no doubt it'll be hosted by a politically correct vegan cyclist and feature "Star-you've-never-heard-of on a reasonably priced unicycle".
"The right thing"? Not sure - he reported himself, and the producer didn't file a formal complaint.
End of an era. Oh well, they can always use the money to produce other fine high-budget shows. Such as ... um ... no, no, give me a minute ... I'll think of something watch-able on the Beeb ... I will ...
