It was so nice to make this and that dirty helper class which cleaned up even on an exception

The DependencyObject class doesn't have properties for interop items, such as HwndSource, nor a virtual method that matches the HwndSource.hook delegate signature.
Yes, I realize I can create a base class, but that's problematic for me because it renders the designer completely useless due to a bug in VS2013 (which also sucks today) with regards to projects that are stored on a network share (which I cannot change due to idiotic group policies).
EDIT ---------
My only recourse is to create an interface and then modify EVERY one of the 30-some-odd windows I have in the app so far. What a pain in the freakin ass.
Please do not suggest upgrading to VS2015, or changing where the code is. I cannot do it. It's not allowed - they delete anything I put on my C drive every night.

I can't upgrade. I can't even create folders on the freakin C drive. It's part of the lets-make-programmers-life-a-living-hell security policies on DoD networks.

Could using a virtual folder (mklink) get around the issue with the network share?
|
|
|

I cannot change ANYTHING on my system. I tried using a folder on my local drive for the project, and it was DELETED during the nightly group policy sweep. Everything I do has to be on the shared network drive, which breaks the designer in VS2013.

That sucks. We have a domain folder redirection policy here which maps our desktop and documents folders to a nw share and sometimes some of the software doesn't like it and has issues with it.
I was thinking a symlink could map it to a folder on your hdd. Or what if the shared folder is mapped to a drive letter, could that work? Instead of \share\folder it would be z:\ That's if you have permissions to do such a mapping.

If a directory on my local drive is not part of the original OS image installed by the IT folks, IT IS DELETED. EVERY NIGHT. NO NEGOTIATION. PERIOD.

And of course, the use of a USB drive is strictly prohibited as well, I'm sure.

When you insert a USB device that identifies itself as storage, they immediately remove your account from Active Directory, and within 5 minutes, confiscate your machine, and the USB device, and it takes about 30 days to get your machine back. The second time you do it, all of the above happens, and they escort you off the base.

With the working folder on the network, why can't you use mklink to create a symbolic link to a folder on your local machine that you do have access to and that already exists, such as C:\Users\<john>\AppData or C:\Users\<john>\Documents?
Are you the only developer using VS2013? If not, how are the other developers configured to get their job done? Or are they dead in the water, too?

All of us are working under the same conditions. We can't upgrade to a new version of VS on our own - we have to wait until the IT guys get approval from an approval authority, and then THEY (the IT guys) upgrade us.
MKLINK requires elevated permissions that we do not have, and cannot get.
I had to get MCSA cert just to work on the SQL Server backend, and all developers need Security+ certs to work as developers. It sucks.

It takes ore time/effort/interest than its worth to try to work around their bullsh|t. In other words, it's easier to bitch and moan about perceived injustices than it is to do anything about it.
