Johnny J. wrote: Are you doing all this by yourself? The proof of concepts for certain parts, yes I am. Things like the VR work, I will be bringing people in for. As I gain traction with this, I will have to start employing people - it is a business after all.Johnny J. wrote: How far have you come? The virtual greenscreen prototype is done - so I have the ability to put you into the archive footage. This is a technology that I will keep adding features to - these are ultimately going to end up being museum/display specific, so I have built this as a pluggable pipeline. I also have the facial recognition built for when people arrive at the museum for registering new visitors, and recognising those who are already present. This facial recognition module also runs stand alone to identify where people are in the museum. The other side of the facial recognition has nothing to do with cameras; so I've been building a graph database for capturing the metadata from photographs which includes facial landmarks where it can identify it - this is one of the big selling points because there is all sorts of analytics we can do here.Johnny J. wrote: Isn't it hard using facial recognition for this? Yes. The key thing here is that people will still be checking into the museum through reception areas, so anyone who the system doesn't recognise will still be findable, and their image can be updated - I just drop their old landmarks and add new.Johnny J. wrote: I like to visit museums, even the way they are That's what we're trying to do - by adding more interactivity, we want to give people incentives to come back to the same museum time and time again.

What en enormous task.
Being lazy like I am, I'm kind glad I didn't get that assignment...

It is enormous. Right now, I just have to be able to prove the technology - we're looking to build a new DLI Museum, from the ground up, with this technology being put in from the start. There are huge logistical issues that need sorting out but that's why I'm working with Intel on this.

I guess there must be something in it for Intel as well.

Showcases for their technology. They've invested a lot of money in this tech, and this is a real, practical example, out in the real world.

I suspected that.
I also suspect that there will be security products on the market soon using this technology.

Hey, Pete. Some other thread accidentally sent me to commitstrip. And guess what? I found YOU[^] there...
Griff[^] was there too!

I have been known to test my capture code while on a train (and the green screen code as well). It's a great way to get a carriage to yourself

Is this a one time effort for that specific museum or Intel (someone else ) will roll out to other areas too.
cheers,

That museum was the catalyst for me looking into this, and would act as the showcase for the technology. The idea is that this can be rolled into other museums as well - through AMOT (the Army Museums Ogilby Trust), we potentially have a way into the National and Imperial War Museums. I also have some contacts that can help with providing access to the science museums.

The reason I asked before was that because I liked the idea where it can say what part of museum I missed or the new addition from last visit.
It would be blessing in disguise, if can be extended to theme parks or even a high end restaurant ( I always forget what I ordered before which was delicious and wanted to reorder)
cheers,

This has all sorts of applications. Right now, I'm concentrating on the museums angle - but the underlying technology can be spun out into all sorts of areas.

Both Intel and the museum have found the right guy. Well and congratulations in advance for completing what you have started.

Like Seltic?
Or like Keltic?
And why?
|
|
|
|
|
Seltic because that's how the NBA Boston Celtics pronounce it and that's the only context I ever use it.
There are two types of people in this world: those that pronounce GIF with a soft G, and those who do not deserve to speak words, ever.

It's just the way it is. If you're talking about the football club from Glasgow it's the soft C. If you're talking about the predominant cultural influence on English Christianity in the time of Bede then it's the hard C. You don't think about it. It just comes naturally.

That is precisely how it is. Apart from the football club though, I can't think of any other time it has a soft C. Predominantly, it has a hard C.
