I wondering if a un-paid-for review of them (and the Fire tablet I got to tide me over) would be permitted here as an article? If so, then I'll do one once I've got my Hi12 ...
@Chris-Maunder - would that be allowed, and if so in what category?

Absolutely. The hardware review section is your friend (and we need more reviews I reckon!)

The 10.1" Chuwi is absolutely brilliant. It runs anything that you can run on a windows machine with little or no effort -- and I tend to have a lot of stuff open.
I had no trouble at all with it until I managed to drop it from too great a height to land face-down on a central-heating radiator.
Even now, everything works perfectly -- except for the severely cracked touch-screen. But it's got full-sized USB ports, so adding a mouse and keyboard isn't a biggie.
I, too, am waiting on a Hi12 -- that's about as good a "review opinion" as you can get.
With its bigger screen, I won't have to carry a laptop with me all the time.

Was there room to get VS on it? And if so, did it run well?
(The Hi12 uses the same processor / ram combo so if it works on one, it should work on the other)
I also ordered the pogo-pin keyboard, and am dithering over whether to add the stylus or not...

I installed 2008 to a mem card (so that I could use the internal storage for important stuff, like movies and music), and it ran fine. I attributed any occasional lag to the fact that it was on a mem card.
Compile time was a little slow, but it always was, with 2008.

Interesting. I guess VS2015 is going to be horrible though ... Maybe 2010?

I only had a spare license for 2008, but it would have been fun to see how much it struggled with 2015.

It shall go on my list for next week.
10.1 or 12, hmm. Decisions.

Great, sounds a bit like "Massive Attack" ( but better ... )

Exactly! Reminds me of their darker songs like Angel and Risingson (although it can't beat Risingson)

Well, yes, it was certainly easier but you didn't have to solve it that quickly!

My 950XL which, only yesterday, I was singing the praises of to all and sundry, has decided that today it will get stuck in a reboot-loop. Overnight software upgrade didn't go too well

The reboots have become less frequent so I guess something is happening behind the scenes
