What can you tell us about Welsh food? Anything special?

It's elephanting awful?
A bowl of chips / fries is known as a "Swansea Salad" because it is one of the few vegetables the locals will eat. The speciality dish of Laverbread (or Bara Lawr in Welsh) is made of chopped, boiled seaweed mixed with oats and fried. It looks like a giant has a bad cold, and tastes...um...unique. It is not worth developing a taste for. Other than that, it's mostly soups and stews because the country has traditionally been the poor neighbour of England and money and meat were not that available.
Ingredients wise Welsh Lamb (especially saltmarsh grazed) is truly excellent, possibly the best in the world.
Frankly? The food here is not bad in most places - if you discount the preponderance of fried potatoes - but that is mostly because the national cuisine is so bad most people eat English, French, Italian, Indian, Chinese, etc. instead!

I love sea food so I guess I will like it over there.

Don't blame the Welsh food; they seem to eat it without issue.
Blame instead, your consitution which has been weakened by eating English food.

The free exit makes sense really. Bearing in mind anyone who enters Wales will be leaving again shortly afterwards (at speed) why charge twice? Do it once at double the amount.
I wish they'd do that on the QE2 bridge as well. In fact, why they charge at all now its all been paid for is a pertinent question.

Rob Philpott.

You don't, obviously, which makes your post a bit silly.

If you don't pay you don't enter.

You can always drive round the Severn: it's only the bridge over it that charges for entry.
And why do we not charge both ways? Cost! It needs toll booths, equipment, lanes, people, security, etc., etc. This way, the cost of the bridge is recouped eventually.

I think the real reason for a one way toll is that the expect anyone coming from wales to be broke so wont have money for a toll

They expect everyone that come and paid need to return back so he will be already paid that is why they do not pay again. Only guessing

How much do you pay per entry?

Depends on the size of the vehicle: http://www.severnbridge.co.uk/toll_prices[^]

No, the driver is allowed in free, if he stands on the roof and ducks when he goes under the barrier.

Eh ok, what if you are in a taxi who pays the fees the driver or the passenger?

|

I'd imagine the driver will, (since the tollbooth is on his side) but would then charge the passenger for it.

damn it, eh? How can I pass without paying then? Do they charge if I walk through?

You can walk across the old bridge (it has a foot path and a cycle way), but you can't the new bridge - it has no facilities, and is a motorway anyway, where walking (or cycling) is forbidden by law (for your comfort and safety)
There is no charge if you go round the Severn - but it's a long way round!

Normally you'd do it the other way around though. I mean who'd want to pay to enter Wales? Getting out OTOH...
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

How much did you pay? And who pays? Everybody or just English?

Its only a bridge across a river, a big river, that you pay to use. You can enter Wales by one of many hundreds of other routes and not pay, so its a silly post.

What if bridge broke while you are on it do you get refunds?

Deffinitely, sale of goods act, 1974 covers that.

they thought of that on the QE2 bridge (and the new seven bridge I have been informed), they charge you when you get to the other side, on the Seven bridge they assume it's you own fault for wanting to go to wales in the first place
