This is a brilliant parallel ! It was indeed a source of confusion in the first ten years.

So true! Al most every JavaScript book the first introduction paragraphs starts with "Please don't confuse it with Java"

You'd be surprised at how many people think a hamburger has ham.

What is the confusion? Windows RunTime (as the name suggests) is a RunTime API. Windows RT just as Windows NT is an OS version provided by the Microsoft.
What's difficult thing, to get it up your thick brain? -_- No offence!

Now that IS very meaningful

"NT" - means New or Network?

Over years I've heard 3 version for NT
1. N-10 === N-Ten, the codename for that version
2. Northern Telecom (Today Nortel), it has something to do with some patents that Microsoft used from NT in the low level
3. New Technology

For years, the joke was that NT stood for Nearly There. Oh, and that it was pure coincidence that the team who produced VMS came up with WNT.

The stupid lab assistant in college always said NT is for Networks. As he was running NT for servers & 95 as client machines. I later found it out by myself
I'm sure Microsoft would be better off with Animal/Bird names name to make it easy for common people to understand.

Reminds me of the geeky version of the There/Their confusion... "Let me Lync you the link about LINQ"

CodyDaemon wrote: "Let me Lync you the link about LINQ"
So where did you come to know about this line?
I typed this myself years ago.Ditto. When I heard about LINQ.
What I typed here in the lounge became so popular?
Or it's a beaten down common thought that almost everybody typed on their own.

Dunno, I thought he might this morning, but there has only been one actual and one almost repost. The others have been more or less stuff relating to him. Leslie's death was re-reported for several days after it happened IIRC

Appropriate Movie Quote Of The Day
Oh captain, my captain.
Which movie?
The entire poem for those interested
O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
The arm beneath your head!
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and dead.
My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,
The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
