COBOL is still a developing language. The latest standard was published in 20022014:
ISO/IEC 1989:2014, Information technology -- Programming languages -- COBOL
There is even a "Visual COBOL" (not published by MS) that produces .NET code:

A friend got one of those robo calls saying it was from Microsoft and their computer was putting out error messages.
She then called me worried and confused. The problem is she does not own a computer.
I explained that it was not Microsoft and the calls have been going on for a couple of years now.

You should have told her that it was a new feature of Windows 10, which allows a computer to know who it is going to go home with (i.e. its intelligence level has been raised to that of cats), and that the problem has been spotted while the machine that she is going to buy is still in the design phase.

I call bullshit on that. AI isn't even par with human intelligence so how can it outsmart cats.
No way José!

My father was scammed with one of those calls recently.
I think they must be fairly convincing in their methods as I had told him time and time again that Microsoft would never contact him, and he still fell for it.

Luckily both my father and in-laws are basically immune to those calls.
They don't speak English.

I'm still waiting for "the call".
I want to have them walk me through their takeover process with a Linux VM.

high-precision surface calculation of sunspot (groups) from a scanned image of bad quality of a handmade drawing with a pencil of (different sizes over different images) based on a subjective observation by a user (different users over different drawings) through a telescope which has inherent issues of itself.
there are only about 25000 drawings...
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Quit your whining and get back to work! The time it took you to post you could've gotten the first drawing loaded and processed.
It was broke, so I fixed it.
