I watched this last week (well some of it, it is not a patch on the first).
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

Boss told me that he wants me to have (and I presume, use) a smartphone.
I have tried two SmartPhones in the past, and hated them.
If those phones are smart, I am terribly sorry for the people who write their apps and even more horrified for those who wrote their operating systems. As for their system programming APIs, enough said by remaining silent.
So, I don't like them, but really, he's probably right. Besides, he's going to pay for it, so under these circumstances it's time for me to shut up and cooperate.
He might choose the phone for me, but if he asks me to shop for it, what do I want ?
The things that irritated me the most about the two I tried a couple of years ago were...
- They drain the battery like a fire hydrant
- I could never understand how to switch apps on the fly
Have Androids changed significantly in the past 18 months ?
Is the iPhone the answer to my problems ?
Thanks for useful experience.
Oh, a big question: how did you learn to stop hating your smartphone ? Has the pharmaceutical industry developed any drugs to help ? Can shrinks do any good here ? Hypnosis ? LSD ? (That is obviously the drug that the designers of these things were taking.)

I could never understand how to switch apps on the fly.
In Android you can easily switch apps on the fly..

I can't even get apps to run on a fly.
Do you need a special insect API?

My experience with smartphones is that it is best to go for the high end devices - iPhones,HTCs and Galaxy devices at the top end all seem to work well. As for using them just watch a few youtube videos.

I would also like to add Sony Xperia to the list ..

Which version do you have? The wife complains about large phones (reference: she has a Nexus 5 right now) and is looking at the Xperia Compact when it finally hits stateside.

I have Z-1 compact. Not that much big in size. I really like it, except it's camera facility. It takes a bit time to capture the image.

The biggest battery drain is, when the screen is active. Than all devices need every day a charge.
If you like real big phones I would recommand a Nexus 6 (Bonus: wireless charging) or iPhone 6 (or the bigger "plus"). Else take a look at the LG G3 and G4 series or Samsung.
The simple rules: newer and expensive is always better
