You know that is something completely different.

Congratulations to all of you MVP's for this year !
I am very glad to see Graeme_Grant is included; his thoughtful responses on QA here have, imho, set a fine example.
cheers, Bill

Thank you, Chris, for yet another year of membership in the finest technical community on the Internet. I have learned far more than I have contributed over the years, and I'm glad that I've not been shunned because of that; there are sites out here that would have blocked my account for lack of activity, or monetary contribution. This site, alone, stands above the fray, making everyone feel welcome. Yes, we have our superstars, and we have our nitwits, but this place has always treated all members with equal respect. Respect is one of the most important factors that makes CodeProject different. Just look at the post histories of these magnificent programmers in the list above; You won't find a snide, mean response to a question from a less knowledgeable member from anyone. I call that class.
There is not one of us here who has not, at some time, been a beginner. And I doubt seriously that any of us has forgotten how rotten it feels to be humiliated by some prima donna prick begrudgingly correcting the code we tried so hard to make work. If I could think of one thing I would like to see changed at CodeProject for this new year, I would ask that our members be a bit gentler in the Questions area. Yes, a lot of the questions we see are still homework questions posted by students. I completely agree with shunning those who haven't taken the time to research the question. But a lot of them did actually try to find an answer, and sometimes I read a question that sounds almost desperate for help, after making an honest effort to find a solution elsewhere. For us to refuse help in such posts is contrary to the purpose of this site. I'd like to see us, this next year, grow a more inclusive, rather than exclusive community. That being said, I wish for you a magnificent new year, old friend that I have never met. If you ever have occasion to visit the US, please let me know in advance. I'd love to have the opportunity to join you for dinner, and buy you a beer. Michael tells me that you can only drink one beer, so I'll be prepared to take you to the hotel after that first one...
Happy New Year, Chris, and I wish for you a magnificently successful 2018.

WTF this is N. Florida.
It's been and continues to be cold here, at least for us that aren't used to it.

It's been raining half the day here in mid Wales.
Jan 1st and already we've had the wettest day all year.

Rained most of the day here yesterday too, makes it all that much more miserable.

What a strange coincidence; so have we!
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

This morning my son drove up from central Florida and he reports the outside temperature fell by 20 degrees between Orlando and Jacksonville. Brrrr!
Get me coffee and no one gets hurt!

And I'm in the Suwannee valley and it's about 5 degrees cooler than Jax. Right now 39.
I live in a camper, volunteer at Suwannee River Strate Park and my space heater shut off last night about 2:30, it got real cold in here.

Appreciate the offer but got to work out in this crap. Going to help put up a shower in one of the group camps and one of the rangers mentioned the laundry room needs a new roof, which it needs desperately. No rest for the wicked!

Love KY bourbon, drank enough of it that I feel like I should have stock. Maker's mark is my favorite.
