Microsoft has provided a temporary workaround for a known issue preventing the Microsoft Photos app from launching on some Windows 11 systems. Install and run paint.net?

In my opinion, those working on visual programming would be more likely to succeed if they started with aspects of software that developers already visualize. Here we go again again

The TreeMap thing is cool. I need to find one of those.
I think *actual* visual programming is fine and all (where we replace code with shapes or something).
I don't really think that's the important bit. I want WYSIWYG code-behind UI elements a la old school VB where I never ever have to think about there being an iota of js. Super bonus points if there actually is none of it.
MSFT could redeem themselves wholly overnight with something like that.

Model rocketry has always taken cues from what’s happening in the world of full-scale rockets, with amateur rocketeers doing their best to incorporate the technologies and methods into their creations. We've found out just who is in the department that cares where the rocket goes down (or at least how)
For those that don't get the "joke": Tom Lehrer - Wernher von Braun - YouTube[^] (or Lyrics[^] if you'd rather read it)

It's not as if the model rocketeers didn't get some serious help. The SBC that flies your everyday drone is available for purchase.
The difficult we do right away...
...the impossible takes slightly longer.

So what? Even with the SBC it still took a lot of time and effort to make this work.

Thanks for the cutting into the joke. That's a pretty nice bit. Haven't even got to the article yet, but that's pretty self-explanatory.
Edit: What?! This dude's name is Aryan? Oh, I suppose that's maybe partly how we get to Wernher.

Tech companies will have until August 2nd, 2026, to comply with new EU rules for AI around copyright, transparency, and uses like predictive policing. New fines incoming
If it's anything like GDPR compliance, you'd better start soon
|
|
|
|

As long as the fines do not really hurt...

Without the third (minority) vote, probably. Just "we think you might do something bad one day".

Yes. I was curious about that too.
(from Google)
"The law also prohibits the use of AI for predictive policing based on profiling and systems that use biometric data to categorise people according to specific categories such as race, religion, or sexual orientation."
You know, other than not being able to spell some words like categorize and color, they smash the nail pretty squarely on the regular and in fairness it probably should be Aluminium.

Whether you’re at a consultancy or a product company, from development to management, you have a hidden superpower: saying no "Tell her no no no no no-no-no-no"
Yes, I had to look it up to get the right number of no's in there

And if 'No' isn't powerful enough, you can try it's bigger brother: 'F*** You!'
