With Microsoft’s rollout of the new Outlook for Windows(new window), it appears the company has transformed its email app into a surveillance(new window) tool for targeted advertising. As opposed to their other data collection services
By a strange coincidence, they happen to have a competing product. Who would have thought it possible?

Easter egg in test build could have scrambled Microsoft's reputation Next time, just leave the chocolate easter eggs
Although that intern may not have had a next time

The only appropriate response to that intern: "Do you use your left or your right hand for that?"

While users have not yet experienced the hack, University of Chicago researchers demonstrated its potential impacts using Meta’s VR headsets. "An idea is like a virus. Resilient. Highly contagious. And even the smallest seed of an idea can grow. It can grow to define or destroy you."

It would get really interesting if VR were somehow all around good enough that the real inception is making you think you've taken it off but you're still in it. If anyone ever pulls off that trick it'd be fairly hair raising.

Or inverted... You've somehow taken it off but think you're still in it so maybe do some reckless things.
I think some sci-fi has toyed with the idea of VR sicknesses where you can't tell the difference.

The 24/7 on-call nature of work for many IT professionals is leading to a shift in priorities in favor of a more sustainable work-life balance, a change accentuated by the demands of the next generation of IT pros. It's all about where you draw the line

There is another acronym for 'AI' that is not kid-sister safe. Google CEOs are welcome to take that route, especially after having f***ed search results so badly over the past couple years that they are almost utterly unusable now. Glad my main project was completed when Google search seriously kicked ass.

The goal of C++ Insights is to make things visible that normally and intentionally happen behind the scenes. It's about the magic the compiler does for us to make things work. Pay no attention to the optimization behind the curtain!

I couldn't wait for the day a staple feature of any C/C++ compiler became something new and shiny.
(I did find some optimization related issues inspecting compiler's output on a couple of embedded platforms).

Microsoft is now using a Windows driver to prevent users from changing the configured Windows 10 and Windows 11 default browser through software or by manually modifying the Registry. Who would want to change it, after all?
* changing it not using the "official" GUI. I can't really feel bad for losing the ability to change via the Registry, but I won't turn down an opportunity to poke the bear(s)
I'm also waiting for the news when someone inevitably finds a flaw in the driver that lets them take over Windows
