Apple wants to make configuration easy and scalable with Pkl Yet Another Yet Another Markup Language
Not really a programming language, but a configuration dialect. Put it on the pile with XML, YAML, TOML, INI, JSON, and a few dozen others I don't feel like lookin up now.

Not to trivialize the damages these platforms do, but where are these hearings about the weapon, fossil fuel, agricultural and pharma industries, just to name a few?
Guns don't kill people, people kill people, but social media platforms also kill people.
Got it.

There have been hearings after hearings with the gun industries, big pharma, big ag, and fossil fuels for decades. Where have you been?

Assistance killed the programming star?
Although I guess (hope) this won't be the death of Jetbrains.
They've been taking it on the chin for a bit though. VS seems to slowly add some of the best ReSharper stuff.
Recently I started asking myself whether I can chuck it.
It definitely slows down VS, but better hardware would probably crush that. Plus, I do really like most everything about it. However, if you are trying to keep towards the cutting edge then you find it the culprit for breaking things.
That's maybe totally reasonable. I don't envy them the task of keeping such a tool apace with VS/C# updates. But even if they do, it's still a bit of a pain to keep it updated and even then to still occasionally figure out that it is what is crashing the tucked away bits of VS.

If these "AI" assistants were actually good at what they do, e.g. "I see that you are writing code with O(N^2) performance, do you want to replace it with code with O(N*lgN) performance", then I can see the utility. Replacing my preferred tiny snippet with theirs simply doesn't do it for me.
Having said that, some of these tools can catch performance errors in snippets (e.g. passing by value instead of const reference) which can be very useful, especially when dealing with templated code.

The company will be able to fix the issue via an over-the-air update. Now get them to talk to the people that put warnings on pill bottles

Congress really needs to update the terminology the NHTSA can use. Limit recalls to physical recalls and give us a new term for software updates done over the air.

Agreed. Compare this with the recent Toyota "Don't drive - car can kill you" recall. This is just a mandatory update notice.

Whoa, really?
I don't suppose it's Toyota's fault (so much as it was one of their dealerships) but they lost what would've been a lifetime customer in me.
The dealer cold-shouldered me after a total engine loss on an engine that was a mere couple months outside of a recall for engines seizing. It was pretty obviously the same issue, I know did maintenance, regular oil changes and all that. Always thought of them as a brand that lasts before that.

I can't recall any car I've owned which had text on any of the indicators! They just used an icon.
I suppose it's related to the US fixation of having text on signs. For example, Euro sign for no entry is a red circle with a white bar, no reading needed; US is a red rectangle with then words "WRONG WAY" in white.
