Read the Terms and Conditions. They presumably say that one has been granted a non-exclusive, non-transferrable licence to play the game. You do not actually own it, and your licence to play it may be revoked at any time.
Ditto for most other online stuff. This is why I prefer going to the extra effort and expense of buying physical copies.
Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.
