I am a final year electrical engineering student at Jimma University,Ethiopia.I want to develop a display system controlled by a server. The display provides Grade Posts and Advertisements for the Campus.I have been reading about how an E-paper(Electronic Paper) works. The digital system seems to be very costly so that the Campus will not accept the project. Please anyone who knows about the construction of an electronic paper and how to make it embedded with a computer. Thanks!

Does it have to be E-Paper, wouldn't a Flat panel (LCD, TFT) with a VGA (or HDMI)input work. I mean you could remove the bezel and mount it in a custom one and then use a PC104, Raspberry PI, Adrino or many other types to drive it. Hook up the controller board to the college network and it is good to get updates from the Network and go! E-Paper while it looks, good might be over kill for this project (you can also suggest it a further work in your write up!) .

What about a big LED panel? After all the fun is all in the control side: PC communicating with a microcontroller that, in turn, drives the hardware.
