You can do for username using cookies or any other client side option.

Why do you want to keep password? It shouldn't be. Password fields are not supposed to be carry forward. Don't know where from this logic of persisting password for next login occurred to you... couldn't you think of a scenario User A logs in and logs out and then User B comes and find both username and password of User A already filled in?

It's a security breach and in case you still need to persist password at next login, better would be to remove it altogether!
