hello guys...

i am a final year IT student, from Sri Lanka).

i was thinking if i can use a Ethernet connection to browse from my phone.say i connect some device to my phone, and them connect the device to the LAN(RJ45) and browse using the normal applications (say opera mini).

well its fair that you might feel its a pretty stupid thing to do. :D

can you guys help me with how i can do it.

i figure out if im going to plug it to a LAN , it should allow the DHCP to give an IP.

so it thats the case can i configure the mobile accordingly (say of its a Nokia N70).if i cant i would have to use a ethernet host controller right?any specific models??

any ideas??to improve?? or how to do this? if i can do it??

thank you

regards
Ramitha

If your phone supports Wi-Fi (most modern phones do support), you can setup a wireless adapter/router that connects to the the internet. You can then use your phone to connect to this adapter/router to browse the internet.

thank you «_Superman_» for your idea

its a easy solution, but its not that ive not considered that option.

but what im looking for is a hardware solution.say in an environment where a wi-fi connection is not available,or your phone does not support wi-fi.

it would be great to have a device i mentioned that would enable me to use the existing free Ethernet to browse the net right?? :) thank you anyway
