I believe it's possible to embed office in a silverlight app now, and it's always been possible to buy components that will create and/or display PDFs. You'd have to google to see what components you can find for Silverlight, if any. There is no pdf or ppt support in C# or VB, although Microsoft does provide the tools for office, which let you work with Office documents in .NET on a computer that has Office installed. The other question is, how much access a silverlight app has to the host hard drives, but I assume there must be some, otherwise I see little point in making it possible to host Office apps in silverlight, and I know I've googled for other people who, like you, seem incapable of it, and found plenty of examples, in Silverlight 4.0, I believe.
