cannot install windows xp

Hello,
I don't know if in this forum can answer me but I need help. I can't install windows xp pro in my pc. The problem I insert the windows xp cd and boot from cd, I pass everythin well (choose the hard drive, format it and copy the instalation files), after the first reboot of the installation procedure I get the message "press any key to boot from cd..." and I don't press anything to begin the installation but I get a message after the string press any key... which are symbols and the installation is halted, I have tried to format the hard disk with an external program but nothing the same message (of symbols), it is weird because the windows 7 are installing succefully, any ideas on how to correct the win xp installation?

Can you provide some information about your hardware, e.g. is it an old IDE hard disk, multi-core processor, ... ?

I have tried it to my serial ata disk and to my ide the same. It is a dual core amd am4 with an asus motherboard 4 gb of memory, 3 hd (2 serial ata 1 ide) and I have never had problem like this before, I was installing my win xp perfectly, I even remove a dim of a memory to lower memory to 3 gb (win xp don't recognize above 4 gb) but all the same, it is the first time that this problem came up. I even scan disk the disks but there is no problem, maybe something with the mbr?

Hello Kyriakos,

I recently installed Windows XP on my virtual machine for some work and it easily get installed. I haven't such issue yet because "press any key to boot from cd..." only occurs one time and then we remove the CD/DVD or USB. But If you are facing this issue continuously then I would suggest you to download new Windows XP iso file and then try to install it. Hopefully this will fix you...

One thing more, please also check if the boot order are configured correctly.

While I applaud your urge to help people, it's a good idea to stick to new questions, rather than 10 year old ones. After that amount of time, it's unlikely that the original poster is at all interested in the problem any more!
Answering old questions can be seen as rep-point hunting, which is a form of site abuse. The more trigger happy amongst us will start the process of banning you from the site if you aren't careful. Stick to new questions and you'll be fine.
