Prerequisites for developing a web application

I am new to c# language.I have been assigned a project for developing a web project.
I use C#,sql server 2008 R2,.net4.0 for making standalone desktop application.

To make a web application using c# dot net4.0, what technologies i should be aware of?
I have never developed a web Application.

Lemme make you clear!

By desktop application,i meant .exe application that runs only on one machine.
Like windows form application to store and retrieve information from local database.

You can have basix knowledge in OOPS, .Net Coding Structure, Database table , DDL, DML commands in SQl
