Do you really think there's some generic code that can be written to control your home appliances ? Any control that is possible, depends on the appliances and what they allow. So, even if someone wanted to do your assignment for you for free, it's not really possible.

Do the home appliances have an automation interface? How are you going to control those? C'mon, give us any information that we can use.
