Creating multiplatform application

Hi everybody,
I am going to develop a multiplatform desktop application that should work on Windows/Mac.
Is there somebody who can suggest me the more suitable tool for developing sources only once and deploy them to several platforms?
I saw on the internet the QT of Nokia, it looks very interesting, but before embracing it I am asking to someone have some experience...

Solution 1

Use Java!

You can do it even with C++. But it's tricky. For the GUI part you'll probably have to write two versions for Mac and Windows.

Java will have a quite consistent GUI for both platforms.
