hello,

I am new, please accept my apologies for mistakes in posting. I follow the posts and have for a good amount of time, but, never asking questions always leads to at least one mistake...

What I would like to do is read my image files, which includes multiple file types, including RAW (NEF) files. I do not care so much about displaying them, but what I do care about is pulling any metadata and keywords from them.

I looked at the examples on the site, but I could not get them to read all file types and make it work, or easily for that matter. <- this is a reflection on my ability and nothing more.

Is there an easy to follow guide, sample, something that I could look at to help me accomplish reading the extra data of the image files? I have Googled quite a lot, and unless Switzerland limits the amount of information one can see on Google, or I am not searching properly, I have not found a whole lot that I can comprehend fully and make work.

Is there an easy way to accomplish this?

I have not been a developer for a good while so I really only write small things that are easily manageable by myself. I don't have a problem working in C#, but it isn't to say I know a whole lot about C#.

Any help/advice/guidance is greatly appreciated.

Regards

I like your sense of humor. I have used some code I found here at CP(I think) in the past to parse the exif tags on my Nikon raw images at home and was quite successful with that. I'll look at that when I get home in about 9 hours and post to you where I found the source and such. I'm assuming this is for your personal use, in which case I could provide you the assembly and the source that I have. That code may get you on your way and should with a few adjustments be able to read the data from other image types as well if available for the file type.

Hi Marcus, yes, this is for just me... to manage my photos... I really appreciate anything and everything you can provide to help.. in the meantime, I am going to vise some of the links provided by ambarishtv below to see if I can make out left from right :)
