Hi to all,

Could someone explain me the difference between AIR, Flex and flash ??
For which domains are optimized these each one of these technologies ??


Note : I'm looking for experienced developpers feed-back.

Normal that you don't like it :) it is not a google copy/paste question :D.

AIR (Adobe Integrated Runtime) and Flex are Adobe products.
Both are made to create RIA applications (Rich Internet Applications).
Flash is part of the underlying base beside of HTML, AJAX and some other technologies.

An AIR application is installed to the machine. It often uses a online connection for operation, but doesn't have to. AIR uses Flash for the GUI.
Advantage: you don't need to download anything (beside the installer nowadays...)
Disadvantage: you never know which version the user is running on.

A FLEX application is located on a server and loaded to the client, when it accesses. So a FLEX application is a typical online thing.
Advantage: The user has always the newest version.
Disadvantage: Online connection needed. Most Flex-Applications cannot run offline.
