works with IP but hostname its not work

i am hosting a website in apache centos,
website is opening by IP address but using hostname its not working.

getting error

VB

Error Code: 502 Proxy Error. The host was not found.(11001)
IP Address: 172.31.26.83
Date: 9/7/2011 1:01:39 PM [GMT]
Server: testproxy.test.com
Source: proxy

Can you ping the hostname? Is DNS resolving the hostname correctly? Is apache listening for all connections on port 80 or only certain hostnames?
