I have learnt web services but can not understand in which situation we should use Web Services. Please tell me if possible please give me reference guide so that i can get good idea with good examples.

Start here[^]. I have to say that I am surprised that you would go to all the trouble of learning how to create web services but not bother to find out why they should be used. Bizarre.

Solution 2

By using Web services, your application can publish its function or message to the rest of the world.
Web services use XML to code and to decode data, and SOAP to transport it (using open protocols).

Now a days, wcf service is preferred rather web service because of protocol independency.
