I have installed SQL Server 2008.

It was working properly few days back, but now it gives an error: instance name is incorrect & server is not found.

When I look into sql server configuration tools, sql server is stopped. When I try to start it, it gives me an error at the time of starting it.

What is the error you are getting at start up? There are many different ones that can be thrown.

After trying to startup the instance examine the errorlog to find out more details about the problem. Current errorlog can be typically found in directory like:
<basedrive>:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.<instancename>\MSSQL\Log
and is named ERRORLOG without any extension. The file itself is a textfile so it can be opened for example with notepad.

From this file you should be able to find the source of the problem.
