You're not really giving us a lot to go on here. What do you want from us?

Unless you are pretty certain you can com up with something that has a genuine recognizable value, simple and different will probably do more to hurt your career opportunities than help.

You could do something that would demonstrate your capabilites as a developer, do something useful, and at the same time involve a number of people during the planning and design stages. This would allow you to demonstrate both technical and social skills - something that's often quite important to potential employeers.

Espen, I agree with most of what you say, but I think the point I made in my answer should come first -- if I don't feel real interesting interest in work itself, your very well intended advice (I'll vote 5) would remain in vain.
Same question, same responses, have a look here[^]

I would have gone for C or C++.
Because the ideas from there can be taken to anywhere
Linux or UNIX or Microsoft Technology.

Muddleheaded application using C++ will be a good choice.

@thatraja: I really like your first idea for a project, was thinking about such thing myself (all technology is there, but in needs good understanding; best thing is your desire it help people who really need help.

I think the most help needs the person who voted "1" for your answer: being ethically and intellectually impaired... there is no cure, life is really hard, needs help in every step... I'm really sorry. I vote "5" just to demonstrate how healthy people do.

Yeah, really some such ideas are amazing also helpful for people in a kindness way, also the enquirer wants a different one for his career so I was suggested that, but leave the down-voter(even I don't know why '1' for this), might be I suggested here which he thought the same. Let's see.
Thanks dude.

You're very kind apparently. Nothing like that is a valid motivation for "1". I discussed this already. In this case the voter should have bravery to say: "this is crap, I have much better idea".
I discussed that few times. Imagine for a second you told a plain lie in an answer -- I'll be the first to vote "1", "2" for very stupid, misleading but explainable conseptual mistake, etc. OK...
Best,

Even I made comments like "You beat me to it" for some answers here before. Also look at this simultaneous responses by Slacker & Kramer at the same second. :-)

Also I never used except rating '5' for answers in Q/A section but I have added comments for the answers if it has any flaw with out vote(so he can update), some times he might misunderstood the questions or Enquirer might have posted a confusing question.
Anyway I'm glad for this conversation Thanks again SA., keep continue ... I'll too, cheers. :-)

Very good. However, votes of "5" for Q/A are quite reasonable: we're given the range; so the whole range should be used -- accordingly; every one understand the difference between "5" for "General Theory of Relativity" and "5" to the answering the question "hlp plz where to write a semicolon very urgent".
By the way, when I recently received "3" and commented "yes, my answer is pretty bad" because I really realized that -- very basic elementary thing, everyone can read the same.

Cheers,

What career do you want?
- Finance?
- Science?
- Other?

We can't really guide you in this.

Cheers

sujaneel,

Please try not to take what you say as offense, but try to think about it; I really want to help -- if only I can.

So far, you don't show sufficient interest in work itself, you only care to be prudent. Right now, I would not be interested to guide a person like you. This is because I can tell a potentially good, interesting student.

Do you know how potentially good students are different? They are very opinionated; they mention many languages and technologies, they would say, this and that is crap, but this is really interesting to me, and this... They have something out of pure interest. Such people are pleasure to work with. They easily use help of others. Later on some appear to be weak, or lazy, or lacking a character (which is very important), but everything starts with interest to work and knowledge itself; practical considerations of career, money, etc. come later.

I would be happy if I'm wrong about you...
