Spend some time reading the articles/tutorials/samples from here[^].

But, I too would suggest you to use jQuery for this task as it would give you more control over the design.
Search Google for samples on how to do it with jQuery.

You can do with jQuery very easily with nice look n feel.jQuery is just a library that works over javascript.
