I'm building my own web browser and want to add a download manager.
I have been able to build one that will download a file if I type the file location into a text box.
What I'm trying to figure out is how to have the download manager open when I click on a download link on a web page.
How to make the download manager know it is a link to a downloadable file as opposed to something like a link to another webpage?

That is quite a task, why whould you want to do that?

My guess is that the webbrowser looks att what kind of file you are opening. --> If it's a file the webbrowser can render, (or if it has a plug in that can render it.) it tries to render it, otherwise it defaults to the downloadmanager.

I'm building it as a learning project. I'm just learning to program for fun, not work or business. And in order to learn and keep my interest, I need a project to work on. And since I don't like the layout and functionality of today's browsers, I thought I'd build one to my liking.
