Slang.

As you have said yourself... every language has its strengths (but also its weak points).

In my opinion there is no language "to rule them all", it will all depend on what you plan to do. Then you will need to choose the one fitting best your target.

He didn't specify that it needs to be a programming language, did he?

Lol.

New languages comes to birth continuously because there is no ultimate language that beat all others on every aspects.
I often need to add functionalities to Excel WorkSheets, I use VBA because it fits.
When I need a light weight database app, I use an xBase family language because i know it and I don't need more things. I use Harbour/xHarbour/xSharp, they open source cousins of Visual FoxPro.
I have no need for the last cutting edge language, anyway, in 6 months another one will be more cutting edge.
Anything depend on my needs.

Your choice will probably be the one your master the best.

Depends on your definition of "powerful". If speed is your thing, then you can't get any closer to the metal than Assembly Language. Not for the faint of heart!

by powerfull i mean more secure more fast in functionality.
I think the answer you're looking for is: C++.

Why? Because it produces arguably the fastest running assemblies on most platforms because it is not dependent on a framework like .NET or Java (although java and .net guys may argue about this a bit). It is arguably the fastest high level language available that still offers classes, and is still one of the most popular and sought after language skills.

C++ guys will tell you that most software is still written in C++ and get insulted if you don't agree. Lol.

Because of it's speed, popularity and flexibility it is still the language of choice for game developers, if that tells you anything.

Everyone here has their own preference, and will give you a different answer for their own reasons. Mine is C#, because while I was a Microsoft my team used C# and I grew to love it. If I had been in one of the Windows OS teams, I would probably feel the same about C++.

But lets be honest here... what everyone here is thinking is: This is the language I'm telling you about (or I'm refusing to propose a language) because I DON'T want to admit that I think you want me to give the obvious choice: C++.

So... yeah.

C++.

PS: Someone above mention that Assembly is faster, and of course that's true. Because Assembly is maybe the lowest level programming language, there is also a steep learning curve involved and development in Assembly is not rapid at all.

Depends on the application that you are trying to develop. In general C++ is powerful and fast. If your application involves heavy duty numerical calculation, then FORTRAN is the most powerful. Java if you have an Internet application.
