Starting Modern / Universal App Maximized?

Is there a way to start a modern app so that it's window is maximized? It seems that the first time an app starts in Win10 it is in windowed mode. The usual desktop app maximize techniques do not work.

Solution 1

You can do this by setting ApplicationView.PreferredLaunchWindowingMode to ApplicationViewWindowingMode.FullScreen

Solution 2

According to microsoft documentation PreferredLaunchWindoingMode is only available for Win 10 Universal Apps. Is there an option for Win 8 Metro Applications ?
