Over the past couple of years, I have been able to find every answer I need here, but I ran into a big problem and I'm looking for help.

I needed a custom control, which was a dot matix display. I tried one that I had found on here, but I didn't have any luck with it, so I found another by BCT Controls. After a lot of work, I got it to do just what I wanted. It was a free control, but it came up with a registration key, which the author has provided. Then I went to install the application on my laptop and this comes up during the install:

Module C:\programfiles\.........blah blah blah\BCTDisplayMatrix.OCX failed to register. HRESULT -2147024770. Contact your support personnel.

Why must this happen now?

I suspect you don't have something the control needs installed, so the registration fails.

What Christian said + what I always say:

You can use Filemon.exe or procmon.exe from the SysInternals suite to determine what resources are being accessed. Look for the "NOT FOUND" operation result - that should give you a clue. Or use depends.exe to check the dll's dependencies.
