Hi,
I'm having some serious trouble attaching the following video from streetfire.net as an embedded player on one of my codeproject articles.
The video is located here: http://www.streetfire.net/video/vehicle-accessory-computer-interface_2076357.htm
I have inserted the embedded player code on my codeproject article, but when I click preview or submit internet explorer just hangs and then i get an error message saying the script has stopped.
I have tried everything, but the script keeps timing out.
The embedded code:
<object width='428' height='352' classid='clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000' id='SFID016554228495806456'><param name='movie' value='http://www.streetfire.net/flash/SPlayer.swf' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' /><param name='allowScriptAccess' value='always' /><param name='wmode' value='transparent' /><param name='allowfullscreen' value='true' /><param name='FlashVars' value='&video=3452b804-0d4e-4601-96c7-9e1700d86bed&servicecfg=386'/><embed src='http://www.streetfire.net/flash/SPlayer.swf' flashvars='video=3452b804-0d4e-4601-96c7-9e1700d86bed&servicecfg=386' allowfullscreen='true' wmode='transparent' width='428' height='352' allowscriptaccess='always' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer' /></object><br/><a href='http://www.streetfire.net/video/vehicle-accessory-computer-interface_2076357.htm'>Vehicle Accessory Computer Interface</a>
Can I ask if there is a compatibility issue?

I think it is not possible, CP only allows a small subset of HTML. How about something like this[^]? I've always thought it was actually embedded, but is really only an image linking to the external site.
(I still didn't get to view your site properly, the one you sent in response to my message in the article)

Thanks you gave me an idea... I couldn't get an image from the external site, but I took a print-screen, uploaded it and set the link to my video.
Thanks I appreciate it!

When you post a question, the right side of the screen is overlayed with a list of similar questions. As you type your question, the cursor (and the text you type eventually disappears under this list. There's no way to dismiss (or roll-up) the list so you can see what you're typing.
Using IE7 on Vista.

I generally like the new streamlined look, but one place I feel is too streamlined is the Article list on the Home page.
Example: Currently on the front page there is the listing for:
Event based Socket Streams: SocketLib
5 hrs ago (new) by Cem Kalyoncu
C++ TCP Socket Stream Library
I suggest adding another line as follows:
Event based Socket Streams: SocketLib
5 hrs ago (new) by Cem Kalyoncu
C++ TCP Socket Stream Library

Absolutely want to avoid accidentally clicking on anything .NET-ish, huh Hans?

Why?
I must get a clever new signature for 2011.

If I just report a question (for whatever reason), I get a rep point. If I delete it, I get nothing (and the point I got for reporting it is deducted. That doesn't provuide much incentive for us to clean up questions (nor report them).

Agreed. Delete too should give +1 as rep.
But, I guess Chris wants to keep a check on this, as if someone on a given day does not tries to fetch some rep-points just by deleting questions! Can be?

Maybe that's the point. Don't want to give people a reason to delete a question, other than it being crap.
Though I agree with the observation about report reputation points. It seems that if I'm going to take the time to report something, I think it should be changed or removed. If that then happens, it makes little sense to then undo the reputation I was given for reporting it in the first place.

Well, I see it this way - we're given delete ability so that we can do some of the site cleanup for the admins so they don't have to. That's "organizing" in my eyes. I'm no saying that we should get a point for reporting, and then a point for deleting, but if we delete without reporting, there should still be a point there.

We made the decision not to award points for deletion in order to discourage gaming the system in a truly malicious fashion.
Yes, if we update the system so this restriction only affects silver and below, then we should be good to go.

Interesting.
Do you have any add-ins blocking anything from Microsoft's website?

I haven't been on in a while, and got the notification that I need to validate my email. So I clicked the link, and didn't get it. Checked the system logs, and found this entry:

Hmm, not unknown, but doesn't match.

Web22 and Web24 don't show the menu on the left for me.
Tried several refreshes and ctrl-f5's and never showed up (unless I went to another server like web23)

You know ever since you allowed the unions, things have been going downhill.
I say you disband those unions at once and go back to the good old days of whips and tasers

Asking again (previous question here), but is it possible now? How was this achieved?
