Because 'Edit' Now reads 'Improve Question' and 'Delete' is now a big red X like symbol.

No, I was talking about COMMENTS to other peoples answers - not the actual answers themselves...

But here's something strange. If I look up any of my old comments, I have the edit/delete possibility, but I didn't have it at the time I made the comment...

Could it be a problem with caching/page refreshing?

Do a F5 once you entered a comment and you will be able to edit/delete it.
Currently, immediately after putting the comment, one cannot edit or delete it. You need to refresh/revisit the page in order to see the icons again.

We reported the same last week and probably is in known issues to be resolved (To-DO list!).

Further, based on the Rep points FAQ, it looks like there would be scope of comment editing coming up...
