By mistake a post of mine went to a wrong forum. Since there is now strong patrolling in forums  , I instantly chose to delete it and repost it across the correct one. I think because of slow response, the DELETE button was attempted twice and I got this message:
Wrong Password
Something somewhere has gone haywire, I believe.

I would say instead of just deleting the post after so many less votes have come, the logic should be as follows:
1) Blur the post like http://www.experts-exchange.com/[^] does for not logged on users, till thier subscription is verified.
2) After a while, with moderator/administrator intervention or a specified message expiry, the message can be deleted.
Wouldn't that solve the problem Vikram and others were facing today?

The logic for post deletion has nothing to do with the number of 1-votes. It is all to do with people marking it as spam or abuse. It just so happens that a spam or abuse marked post will automatically get a 1-vote also.

The reason for auto-hiding abusive messages is to hide them. Trolls post stuff to get a rise. If you remove the post from everyone and be consistent then they learn there's no point in trolling or spamming. If someone knows that there's a chance many members will still see their post then the disincentive is gone.
You post something abusive or inappropriate in the forums and the community votes it off the island then it's gone. End of story.

I agree. Tolerance on the long run might render abusive content being scattered across the forums making it disgusting for readers.

I agree completely, but what happens when the post that is removed is the opening post in the thread? What I have seen is that all of the responses are still visible but usually get visually associated with another message.
Wouldn't it be better in this case to remove the top (opening) post and all of the responses?

In the forum message editor, there is a 'Preview' button, which opens up a new window to preview the content that is being typed. I feel that this is an 'extra' burden  to the user clicking a button.
How about having a DIV that automatically keeps previewing the content as it is typed? I would say, the editor itself can be a Rich Text editor too.

I am not sure if I am the only one experiencing this issue. In the forum messages, when I click 'Preview' before submit, I get a small popup window and then a big window with the content opens up. I have to manually close both the windows.

There should only be one. What do the windows contain?

The first one is the tiny square window just like Microsoft download open and close right?
The second window contains the preview.

Currently in forums when a particular message is replied to only its author gets a notification but not the original author or other participants.
How about having a link like 'Enable Email Subscription'. I admit that the following points have to be taken care of:
1) Heavy Email Traffic and SMTP overload.
2) We can fine tune (1) to an extent by restricting the subscriptions only to the participants.
3) However, even by deducing from (2), anyone can just put a thread and become a participant.
The cost overweighs its signficant advantages at least from an instant vision. Just putting out the suggestion so that it would be a little brainstorming exercise and others can share thier views too.
