I'm sad to hear you've ditched the RS4 and the AMG for a Mitsubishi. That does indeed bring a tear to my eye.
But the ultrabook is still going? Crazy. Mine gave up the ghost a few years back. It was fun while it lasted.
Astrophotography was a big hobby of mine when I was back in Canberra. Clear skies, perfect conditions, but crappy gear as a student. It's amazing what can be done in software these days so if you've up for an article that would be amazing.
Take care mate.
cheers

I noticed[^] we only have the option of "Spam" or "Abuse". A button to send a thread to the soapbox would be sweet. If that's too much power, how about a "mark as soapbox" button and simply keep count?
There's also the reputation to consider; the thread is simply in the wrong place on the wrong time, it's kinda overkill to mark it as abuse. Can we have a way to report threads without the rep-damage involved? Would make it somewhat easier to rectify these mistakes

When I want to insert an image (or other file) into my article using the CP article editor I often get errors when uploading the file.
I click on the button 'Browse File' and pick the image I want to add (about 15 kB on average).
I then click the 'Upload Files' button.
The first time I never have problems. The second time sometimes. Maybe if I wait too long before uploading another image.
Anyway I get the error that something went wrong (no specific messages).
This results in the 'Upload Files' button being hidden. I also can't browse to the same file because I get the message that it is already added.
I need to exit the editor, browse to my draft article and open the editor again before I can upload a new image.
I am still working in Chrome.

The html editor keeps on being a problem...
Editing code in code blocks is now much better, but sometimes random html is inserted in code blocks or in the article itself.
In the article itself newlines/paragraphs are inserted.
My article suddenly
looked something like
this
for no reason...
In one place only, in other places only a single empty line was inserted.
In code blocks the html is actually inserted, but then shown.
For example:
SELECT DISTINCT</span>
<span style="font-size: 9pt;"> BusinessEntityID,</span>
<span style="font-size: 9pt;"> Title,
</span><span style="font-size: 9pt;"> FirstName,
</span><span style="font-size: 9pt;"> MiddleName,
</span><span style="font-size: 9pt;"> LastName,
</span><span style="font-size: 9pt;"> MIN(s.SubTotal) OVER(PARTITION BY s.CustomerID) AS LeastExpensive,
</span><span style="font-size: 9pt;"> MAX(s.SubTotal) OVER(PARTITION BY s.CustomerID) AS MostExpensive
</span><span style="font-size: 9pt;">FROM Person.Person AS p
</span><span style="font-size: 9pt;"> LEFT JOIN Sales.Customer AS c ON c.PersonID = p.BusinessEntityID
</span><span style="font-size: 9pt;"> LEFT JOIN Sales.SalesOrderHeader AS s ON s.CustomerID = c.CustomerID
</span><span style="font-size: 9pt;">ORDER BY FirstName, MiddleName, LastName</span><span style="font-size: 9pt;"> </span>
I can guarantee I did not insert all those spans...
Edit: I am using Chrome.

Have you tried to select the checkbox "Expert mode: Don't mess with my HTML formatting"?
|
|
|
|
|
I haven't. I don't consider myself an expert. But if expert means I won't insert a bunch of empty lines in my article then yes, I might actually be an expert after all!

There seems to be a spate of folks double-posting their questions recently, one to C# QA, and a duplicate to C# 4.0 QA.
I assume this is not desirable: please correct me if that assumption is an error.
I think it would be a good idea if the QA FAQ, in the "rules" section, mentioned that a poster should post on one forum at a time.
thanks, Bill

Until the late 20th century, nobody knew how to take seriously a machine with a trillion moving parts. It's just mind-boggling." Daniel C. Dennett

I have been experiencing slow downs in the forums for some time now which I have directly traced to ads running in flash.
Impacts are usually one of the following
- Long page loads.
- Long time to open message
- Long time to open reply window.
I know this is related to flash because if I start killing flash as soon as I see the problem the problem often disappears. However once it starts I can expect to be required to kill flash for every new page load for some time.
I have experienced this on three different computers (completely different types) with different OS versions and three completely different networks.
And at least one of the networks is quite fast. I do run virus checkers but I was using two different types of those as well.
I can't say that it happens with all of the flash ads. But once it starts happening it seems to happen for a while (could of course be the same ad.)
I have on occasion experienced this on other sites but nothing like I see here. But to be fair I spend more time here than elsewhere.
Might not be anything that is fixable but just noting it as a problem.

I realized that I've been missing a lot of interesting articles because of my filters that I set for Q&A.
What I'm feeling comfortable in answering in the Q&A isn't necessarily the same as which articles I'm interested in reading.
Is it possible to get two sets of filters? One for Q&A and one for article filtering?
Or to put it differently, one filter for learning and one filter for helping.

I tried to complete my logon by clicking update your settings[^] link from top of Rootadmin home page.

Apologies for that – your previous Beta Tester status for our previous new ventures accidentally carried over to this new beta test. I’ve removed all previous beta testers but please let me know if you’d be interested in this beta test and I’ll send you some coupons.
