Hi,
based on viewing CP pages in: IE9 release, Chrome Canary[1] latest build
This really is getting picky, but I would like to observe:
1. on a forum like the Lounge
2. on the top (global site) Search text-entry box that includes a 'magnifying glass' icon at the right margin: this icon is never a functional ui element.
For better and for worse, most folks are socialized to expect any icon to have some function, and I'd wager that many users, as I did until I realized what was going on, will be puzzled why clicking on the icon does nothing, leaves the menu dropped-down, does not initiate the search.
Ideally, imho, both the search function within a forum (as in the Lounge), and site-wide would have identical top-level user interfaces, or be combined into one UI.
If you are going to drop-down a menu presenting a choice of modes, and keep it open on the site-wide search, I'd prefer to have the choice of selecting multiple search targets: i.e., via checkboxes rather than one-only-mode via radio-buttons: it appears to me that functionality is already available on CP.
For me, it would be just as useful to have only one search UI per web page, with no drop-down options, and then, as now, present options for refining the search results, and advanced search, in the results-of-search page.[2]
Or, what I'd like best, would be to make the icon at the right edge of a unified search function UI trigger Advanced Search, substituting a more "mnemonic" icon for the magnifying glass. That way I could do "quick and dirty" searches assuming a default search-target of the current active forum just by typing in some text and hitting enter: and could engage the Advanced Search function as needed by entering my search-text, then clicking the icon.
best, Bill
[1] I note that Chrome (Canary) does not have a magnifying glass icon, or any other icon, next to the address bar to trigger search.
I think that's a damn good thing, since the magnifying glass is an icon used for both changes in view (as in PhotoShop, etc.), and for triggering search. Aside: I think not having a top-level menu entry for 'view' parameters is a design flaw in Chrome/Canary.
[2] Whether there "should be" a graphic UI element of any type to trigger search, whether one can assume that all users today know that you hit return/enter to trigger search ... that's an open question.

That's the reason why I can't use that search box on my Samsung Galaxy Tablet. Neither Opera nor the browser that is already on board display a return key in the on screen keyboard when that search field gets the focus. That's the reason why I think there should be link behind that icon.
Cheers!

So to summarise:
1. Make the hourglass actually do something such as actually trigger a search
2. Remove the dropdown options
1 is something I've been meaning to do forever.
2 is something that I'm not sure I'd like to remove because I like that it shows you, before you click anything, what subset of the content will be included in the search. At one point we had it so that any search returned all results from all content types but this was frustrating when you're viewing an article, search, and find a bunch of forum discussion posts (which can overwhelm the article search results easily)

I've made the magnifying glass now act as a button. As to combining the forum search box with the site search box, that's something we've discussed many times but my feeling is that when the forum is way down the bottom of the page (such as on articles) it's better to have the forum search box be immediately available for those wishing to search messages in their articles.

It would helpful to see the 'member since' info within the profile popup:

Would it? What value does that provide?

I would recognize a new/old member (article forums) and how active the member is (reps/since).

No you wouldn't. We have lots of members who signed up years ago and haven't posted anything. This information provides no context at all.

Look at Tom Lawton, here[^], nearly 10 years a member, and only a few posts and points, and most of them are CCC related.

rep numbers page and graph are disagreeing again on Author points, 25 is the difference at the moment. Probably still a bug in download rewarding. FWIW: only one download event in history for the last 6 hours, so shouldn't be a cache issue.

The difference has increased to 35 now. My best guess is a ZIP download gets entered once in the rep history, counted once (5 Author) in the numeric rep, and sometimes gets counted twice in the graph (double-GET filter not working reliably?).

This is probably a known issue, so I apologize if this is a repost.
I have noticed that whenever I post a comment to an Article, Tip/Trick, etc... the page does not refresh and all I see is my comment and no one else's comments. I have to get off the page go to the Home tab and click on the article again to see everything.
Ctrl+F5 does not seem to work, it just refreshes the same page view.

Comment posting is all done via Ajax, so yes, no page refresh.
If someone posted a comment on the question, tip or answer you are commenting on then you'll see the other comments after you post, but not for other items on the page.

1) Reporting a pending for being the wrong type..........success
2) Vote message on pending article saying wrong type results in a 'Failed!' message in red in the voting area of the message. The page then redirects to the C# article listing page
3) Navigate to the Home page
4) Re-enter the Pending article
5) Try to vote on said message again in #2
6) 'Failed' message appears again, and page redirects to the C# article listing.
7) give up, and go back to my can of IRN-BRU for breakfast..............

Yeah, someone posted some HTML in the .NET Framework forum that screwed up the page...again.

It might be this user's[^] signature perhaps. His response to a question is the final one that I see until I open up his post. Everything else then shows up really odd as part of his post.

Planning to allow saving more than 5 "interest" filters in the future? Considering the large number of filter selections there already are, makes sense to allow users to save more than 5 filters when looking through Q&A.

The most useful feature (for me) of the Bookmarks feature would be the ability sort my list of bookmarks in reverse chrono order (i.e. most recently bookmarked first). This would make the feature infinitely (or at least 17.5492E+892301 times) more useful.
Thanks,
