Hey guys, congratulations to everyone who got awarded as a CodeProject MVP, and thanks for awarded me with this honor as well. The thing is, I was just surfing my profile and I saw that the badges are finally live now and the MVP Badge is quite amazing. I am unsure whether you would be able to parcel sticker for them with the certificate, at least I would appreciate this sticker.
But, I had to suggest that you can release a bigger size image that we can reuse on our blogs/websites. I would love to use the image to demonstrate my profile and the status. This is the image I am talking about.
What say you?

Yeah the size which is used for Microsoft MVP is quite nice, we might take that as example

It looks like the zip file didn't make it. Can you either re-edit your article and upload the zip, or email to submit@codeproject.com and I'll upload it for you.

I tried it again myself, but to no avail. I have sent an email to submit. Thank you very much.

No need for the email: looks like you got it fixed yourself - well done.

On many occasions I have recommended in other technical / programming forums to read Code Project "How to post / answer question".
In other words - I hold Code Project in high regards partially because these "How to ..." instructions.
Unfortunately I am beginning to see " I am the expert , do what I say ... Read the book " attitude in some newer forum replies. I call such replies "sermons" and have encountered few of such replies to my own posts.
Would it be possible to include in "How to" instruction to refrain from expressing such "teaching" attitude? Specially when most computer geeks are no teachers by profession.
There is a big difference between post explaining the resolution of the problem and just nagging OP to read such and such book starting from Chapter 1.
Cheers and best in 2018

How about "Don't tell someone to read the manual. Chances are they have and don't get it. Provide an answer or move on to the next question.".
Does that cover it?

Maybe add the LMGTFY as well?

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you
Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

Nah - I always want to punch someone when they throw that one at me. I know it has it's uses but I just have a personal bias against it.

I've noticed that when spam questions - usually supplements or "male enhancement" products - get through without being spotted they contain non-link URLs which contain the same site: supplementdealuk dot wordpress dot com
If we blacklist "http:..." and "https:...." so any message containing it goes direct to moderation we can prevent these getting published, and thus from appearing on the front page? All it would take as far as UI is concerned would be a Protector only list edit page to add / remove URLs from the list in the same way that uBlock does for ads?

Just mark them as Spam. After being flagged as Spam a few times, the Spam Filter will learn that these links are associated with Spam and send messages to the Moderation.
The problem with Black Lists is that the Spammers change their urls regularly as they get black listed, so we would have to spend a lot of effort to maintain a Black List.

We do, but the detector doesn't seem to pick up on non-link URLs too well - look at the number of "Spam in QA" reports in the S&A forum.
How about we time stamp them? A black list entry lasts 30 days since it was last seen and is then automatically removed? Anything which makes it harder for them encourages them to move to a more vulnerable site ...

Here: Member questions & answers[^]
According to the list, I posted my answer to "Python convert string and variable to list name" 6 hours ago, which is wrong. If I click on the link, it says "Posted 1hr ago", and that's correct.
[Edit] Probably the same as this bug report[^].

Rep points for posting and being upvoted (and other such things) are often missing. Yeah - I know I've posted about this in the past. Now, however, I realize that I'm specifically targeted.
I can't see anyone else's stuff, mind you, and so, without evidence to the contrary I just assume it's just me.

When I try to vote I received the above message. What do I need to do to get a "confirmed email address"?
