I get this on various sites sometimes. Never could figure out the root cause. Likely a brief blip with one of the packet routers.
What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?
The metaphorical solid rear-end expulsions have impacted the metaphorical motorized bladed rotating air movement mechanism.
Do questions with multiple question marks annoy you???

I'm new to Code Project, and in writing my first article, I discovered an enormous pain point: every time I enter the article editor, whether to update an existing article or to create a new article, there is no option to cancel out of it. As soon as you enter the editor, a new article or draft is automatically created, and if you change your mind, you can't simply quit. You have to jump through hoops to get rid of the unintended creation. This is extremely annoying.
My suggestion is: give us an option to cancel or quit. How hard can it be???

At the moment setting a tag filter affects all the tabs in questions. Could it be possible to add a new tab or few like "Filtered new" or "Filtered active" which would be the only ones taking the filter into account. This way both filtered and unfiltered question list would be available at the same time.

I think this would add too much noise to the UI, which is already noisy enough

When a comment is deleted in the Q&A section, there is text next to the comment indicating such. Why is there still an option to edit a deleted comment? Why not just remove it from the list of comments altogether, especially if that comment hasn't been replied to?

It gives members with high rep the chance to undelete a comment someone else may have spuriously deleted. Only those with high enough rep see the comments.

Noble feature, just seems confusing at first.

Hi Chris,
I just came across this page
Found my article copied[^]
with spam comments from "Thomas4loans", the comments are delete but visible, the account is closed too.
Is there a way to physically remove those comments ? Or one should edit them an erase the contain ?

You can see that content because of your status. Mere mortals can't.
We do this to enable trusted members such as yourself the ability to undo accidental (or malicious) deletions.

Perhaps if an account is closed for spam or abuse, all of their deleted comments could be removed?
(Possibly after a delay, in case the account was closed by mistake.)

I seem to be getting this message about every 5th or 6th comment I make:
The bad part is that I can't seem to remember to copy my comment first before clicking the Submit button.

I got an alert about that and we're looking into it now.
I think we're gonna need a bigger boat.

On a possibly related subject, I've noticed the site takes a serious amount of time to respond for several hours early in the morning UK time (around 05:00 UTC to around 09:00 UTC) but "settles down" after that. It used to be this was just Sundays, and I assumed a weekly site backup was in progress, but it's most days now.

Pretty good! Yesterday morning was a little slow, but nowhere near the scale it has been.

When pasting a URL into a message or answer, there is a script which attempts to retrieve the title of the URL. Nine times out of ten, this works perfectly.
But quite frequently, the script hangs. When this happens, the entire page is frozen indefinitely. There is no way to cancel the script, and no way to copy the partially-composed message so that you can try again.
Please decrease the timeout. If it doesn't get the title within 30 seconds, it should just insert the link without a title.

It's being done synchronously (I know, I know) hence there's no timeout. I'm reworking it to be async so we can have it behave more like a grown up.

Today I've published my article The Revolutionary New CLOPE And TB – Clustering Algorithms In C#.NET[^] and I've got a couple of questions:
1. Why my articles thumbnail has changed after I've uploaded the proper image twice ?
2. Why haven't I received the daily build mail-out today to my e-mail address ?
Thanks a lot.

You should be getting your newsletters shortly. Had to kick the mail sender.

Matthew Dennis, I'm sorry, but I'm still not getting the CodeProject's daily build newsletter.
