There is not any delete link for deleting the gravatar and save it. Please let me know the steps how to do that.

I no longer see the queue.
I distinctly remember that I used to see this queue on the front-page (I even helped out from time to time).
Did something change? Or was the fact that I saw the queue the bug?

The queue is actually empty. So it will not be shown on the main page. Wait a while and you might see it again.
But there seem to be some members around at the moment that approve everything as soon as something new pops up.

Could be but it's been like that for a few days now.
I'll keep an eye on it for the time being, see if it returns or not.

Is there any reason why a message with status "message automatically removed" can't be removed? Not even with the "X" available for protectors?
It is not the first time I ask for help to clean up messages that are already "auto-deleted" but still appearing in the search list with full spam in title or first sentence in overview. When I go to the messages most of them have been successfully reported by the needed members.
I know that if a message contains answers, is more difficult to get ride of it. But when it is the only one... it annoys a bit not being able to delete it.

We leave messages in place so that deleted messages can be undeleted.

This I'll get fixed.

Fair enough

This is another reason why I like CP... Thanks for feedback

Hi Chris / Sean / Matthew!
I assume you've already seen one of those very obvious spammer accounts like this one:
(Other members reading this please don't report that account so the admins will be able to see what I mean.)
Mucend - Professional Profile - CodeProject[^]
In the last few days I've reported several of these in the Spam&Abuse forum. First I looked them up by manually scrolling through the MemberIdDesc-Pages, then, three days ago, I wrote a program to do this. It collects new accounts that have an image or a biography or a homepage-link (and lists them for inspection and subsequent reporting). So I was able to gather some statistical data (from 3 days) without going crazy:
Approximately 4% of all new accounts satisfy these criteria (image||bio||homepage) and almost all of those actually are spam accounts. With roughly 2000 new accounts per day that's about 80 new (obvious) spammer accounts per day. That's (IMO) more than what can be handled in the Spam&Abuse forum. Thus I would suggest you set up some own procedure to nuke them.

What's the pattern you're using? A bio with a link?
Note that links are inactive for new members so they are essentially useless accounts. Still - I'm happy to put together a page that allows these things to be found easier.
cheers

Chris Maunder wrote: What's the pattern you're using? A bio with a link? No, just any bio other than the string "No Biography provided". Or any image other than a gravatar. Or any homepage-link (which is not inactive for new members).
Chris Maunder wrote: I'm happy to put together a page that allows these things to be found easier. The problem I'm seeing here when handling this through "traditional means" of reporting is the amount of these accounts per day: Approx. 80; that's 1600 clicks required per day to kick them.

So essentially you're just looking for non-trivial bio's to narrow down the checking. Gotcha

Yep, turned out almost all new accounts with any bio are such spammer accounts without doubt.

Another observation: A lot of them are re-using the same image over and over. (Most of the images show some silly 3d toon or look like they're shots of inmates or terrible B-movie characters.) So I guess you could nuke a whole lot at once by scanning your DB for identical images and confirming the image-groups as spammer accounts by looking at just one exemplary account per group. Storing the hashes of these images might be useful for taking further steps.

In addition to my (indirect) suggestion to make homepage-links available only with a certain reputation: Allowing a signature also only with a certain reputation to prevent spam-sigs. Refer: Article forum spammer - CodeProject[^]
