Is this broken or on the to-do list? I can't believe it's never come up.
Anyway, the author should be notified when someone starts a new thread on the article's discussion board. You get notified of replies, the same as elsewhere, but not the initial post.

All articles should provide notifications. If not, go to the article and check the 'Email Alerts' popup at the top of the forum and ensure you have some options selected.
Overnight one of our cache servers seems to have suffered a mishap. We're working on it now but no ETA at the moment. This is definitely impacting things a little.

Normally deleted / nuked items are visible for protectors, but I can't see anything.

I just made an answer to a QA question. Right after posting it, I click on the "All Questions" widget, which brings me back to the questions page, but also sets the filter to a bunch of tags, all of them related to VB (the question was tagged C#).
Then I clean the filter, click "Update", which brings me to the Lounge
When I go back to QA, this time the filter has been automatically set to anything c# relative. Second cleaning of the filter, update => this time it's ok, I stay on the QA forum and the filter has been cleared.
Weird

If a message gets closed due to spam... and you edit one of the direct answers, you can still see the content of the closed message.
Is that desired so?

I think the question is more, why one should have the possibility to edit an answer... Either block/delete, but sorry _not edit_, not even by an admin.
It does not solve my Problem, but it answers my question

Example: I have edited some messages because they had the spam link of the closed message in the subject, and deleting the rest of the messages in the thread was not needed.

Sorry, maybe I don't get the point. I think you recgonized meanwhile my limited opportunity to communicate in english
Nevertheless in my opinion the messages containing spam links (what else) should be blocked/deleted by you and not modified by anybbody,
Only my view, and never against you and any other protector.

0x01AA wrote: the messages containing spam links (what else) should be blocked/deleted by you and not modified by anybbody, The spam message had the spam link in the subject. Mark Wallace (here[^]) and Phil.o (here[^]) changed the subject and that was the correct action.
The rest of the people writing a message in that thread were spreading the spam link in the subject, even OriginalGriff (who should know better).
So, I edited the messages to delete the spam link in the subject (original spam and user were already nuked), instead of deleting the whole thread.
I hope you understood it now.

Excellent. Not sure why you couldn't see it but glad the servers are, well, serving.

I answered a message in the weekly poll board and was missing some possibilities to select the type of the message (joke and rant at least)

The type options aren't enabled for all forums. I think the thinking was that you weren't allowed to show any emotion when replying to our scientifically rigorous surveys.

... only to get the "our servers are overworked, sorry" message.
That's not the problem, I understand it happens.
But could you please give me my reply back when that happens instead of my having to retype it again?
It works for answers, just not for replies ...
