To add to what Richard has said, since assembly is so little used these days opening a dedicated forum for it would probably be counter productive - a seldom visited forum is worse than no forum at all as it gives hope you might get an answer there quickly. Posting questions in QA opens them to everybody which means a higher chance of an answer.

What!? Wait! ...
I am still hopeful that an occasional message will show up in 'Application Lifecycle'!

I think CP is more a Windows coding site than a low level site. I have in the past asked a few assembly related questions and got some answers (not always the best) I think the main issue if you are trying to code a windows program in assembly you are going to be on some strong drugs (or at least when you are finished you will be).

I tried to start a PLC Forum (Siemens LAD is similar to assembly) and there was very little resonance back then when I asked, so it never went live.

I think that the only assembly questions I have ever seen here, are all homework related. I don't recall any that looked as if they might be (part of) some real world project.

I suppose it is related that there is no dedicated place and hence people don't think it will be attended.
In my case, I would/could have written some stuff to fill the ground structure (and I suppose Joan M would have contributed as well)...
Articles about PLCs, X-Axis Robots, Peripherical units and so on.
Tips with the functions I have build over the years (that I suppose every other good PLC Programmer already has) but...
As I said, it didn't receive so much attention back then.

PLC's good idea, I would be interested, but have only used them in passing mostly for test rigs... (in companies that either had them or would bye them). Did a bit of ladder and some assembly (6800/6502 ish, 8 bit) one of those things would like to learn more don't have the time. Any chance of a link?

I guess that 95% of those who really need to do assembler coding are writing hardware drivers.
You will probably find those in the "Hardware & Devices" forum.
(There are those who occasionally dive down to assembler just out of curiosity and to learn a little more about how hardware works. I am one of them. We don't 'need' to do assembler.
And then there are those who still believe that through assembler coding they can make their program run to completion in 20 nanoseconds less time (or even more than 20 ns less time) through assembly coding. Unless they are also in the first group, they very rarely 'need' to do assembler.)
Even though "Hardware & Devices" sounds like an electronics forum, I am reasonably sure that the visitors of that forum will provide some assistance with assembler related problems. If you problems are related to how to program the use of a specific hardware feature (say the transactional memory features of ARM), it certainly is the right place. If you want to air thoughts about different instruction set architectures, H&D would also be an appropriate forum.

Hi,
I have recently updated to 2.5.0 via docker hub image.
I have found that I cant check for updates and I cant install any modules (Install Modules tab only shows the built-in modules but nothing else).
After about 1 day it just stops working altogether. The only way to get it started again is to remove the docker image and install it again.
I have also found that I cant browse the forums anymore (timeout error). I am using a VPN to post this now.
Recently I have changed ISPs (have a static IP) and it looks like the whole CodeProject ecosystem is blocking my IP.
I see that there was a DDOS attack recently and I think the new firewall rules might have my IP blocked.
I saw another thread advising to get in touch with Chris & Sean but I have no idea how to contact them directly (OM here or emails) so if one of you guys wanna reach out to me to the email I registered wiht we can start the discussion to unblock my IP.
Thanks
Edit:
If it works this is the IP range for my ISP as whoisip:

@chris-maunder
Chris, I suggested he post this here rather than the CP AI forum because it looks like it may be related to the problems pkfox and GKP1992 had? If it isn't, then blame me, not him!

Hi @matthew-dennis. Since the DDoS incident I haven't been able to access CP from my office computer. Since Pkfox had the same issue, I guess the same resolution would work for me.
My public IP is 202.54.252.xxx
Thanks a ton!

@chris-maunder
Happy to see this thread, looks like our Montreal office is being blocked, but our other offices are not. Can you PM me for the IP so it can be unblocked?
Sent an email to webmaster weeks ago but got not response.
thanks
Michel

Perhaps @matthew-dennis can help? My devs are unhappy not having access and my network guys see nothing blocking access; in fact, access is fine from our other offices, which have the same firewalls / configurations.

Quote button is not working for me today. It worked yesterday.
I am using Chrome. I haven't closed Chrome since yesterday so probably isn't a Chrome update.
Process
- Open post in any forum
- Click on reply
- Select text
- Attempt to push "Quote Selected Text'
Normal result is that a formatted value from that shows in the Message box.
Now nothing happens.
I can still otherwise use the message box. So, for example, copy paste works.
[Edit] Rebooted - still not working.
[Edit] It started working again on 1/23/2024 (Tuesday.) Possible it worked on Monday and I just didn't try it.
