SUGGESTION put " do not reply Google it " back to rules
on more serious note
would it be possible to somehow add a note
"posting development software (IDE) question - like "QtCreator " or "Eclipse" is OK "
or
Add "post created with AI assistance help"
note should be added when appropriate
Cheers

Chris has previously expressed his distaste for the "let me Google that for you" site.
However, if someone posts a question that shows zero effort, which the poster could easily have solved by typing their question into a search engine and reading some of the results, then "google it" can be a perfectly valid response.
Aside from the ongoing enshitification of Google's results, the main reason for it becoming less useful as an answer is the huge number of almost-identical questions with "google it" as the answer, which push the actual answer further down the list. But that's not an argument against "google it" answers; that's an argument for closing the low-quality zero-effort questions so that they're not indexed by search engines.

My article Tesseract Act was incorrectly classified as “Web Development” as it is shown in the list under articles > Latest Articles. It has nothing to do with the Web in any sense. Generally, the presence of JavaScript is a bad criterion for Web Development. In this case, this is a Visual Studio Code API language used for development of extensions. There are other JavaScript uses.
Interestingly, in the personal publication list the same article is classified as “Node.js”. This is a bit closer, as the Visual Studio Code API and implementation uses Node.js. However, the topic could be classified better. Extension development is pretty popular and makes a separate class of software.
Thank you.

My guess is the ones who generate the news are probably on vacation, I suspect it will return soon enough.

AFAIK, Kent is fine. He posted a message in the thread below, but news are still not being posted in the insider forum. I bet for Holidays.

Well, it kind of good to know it is not only me that is not getting the daily news... I have been checking spam folders, making sure I was subscribed, etc. (Insert withdrawl symptoms emoji here)
Now that I know it a general problem, does the sudden end of the Daily News emails since August 29 indicate there are some sort of troubles going on at CodeProject?

Also, the Help says check your settings to see if you are subscribed to newsletters, but newsletters are not mentioned there. Also it says ask in Bugs & Suggestions, but I had to do a lot of trial and error to get here. Someone needs to make this site more novice-friendly.

The same problem here. But also I have 2 email addresses, and the one I used to use belongs to the company and I changed it to my personal one. CP never made the change and the dialy news still arrived to the old one , unit Aug. 29 when it stops arriving.

I too haven’t received a newsletter since the end of August. Hope it returns soon since I really enjoy reading each issue of Insider.

I guess need to have some form or something to submit daily insider candidate link and then vote for the best one and then include it in daily insider.

If you do a LinkedIn lookup of the long-tenured (10+ years) CodeProject employees who used to address questions in this forum, you'll find they no longer work at CodeProject as of August 2024.
Take from that what you will.

Unfortunately, that page is out of date.
You don't need to take my word for it. Just look up the people from that page on LinkedIn. You'll find that even Chris ended his involvement with CodeProject as of last month (he posted about it on his CodeProject profile page, too).
I can't speak to what any of this means for the daily newsletter, but it might explain why none of the questions about it have been answered.

Is there somewhere a 'black list' with words we're not allowed to use? Because it looks like every single message I post is marked as 'potential spam' and goes 'under review'! Really?!
|
|
|
|
|
No. Instead, for users who haven't been here a long time, or who haven't posted a lot of messages, all new messages pass through a system that evaluates the probability that it might be spam. If the system thinks it could be spam, the message goes into a moderation queue for a human to review.
There's no pre-defined set of rules to determine what does and does not get caught. And even if there were, they wouldn't be published, since that would be a handy guide for spammers trying to get their spam past the filter.
It can be annoying for new users, but it beats the pre-filter days, where the forums were regularly flooded with thousands of messages from automated spam-bots.

Thanks Richard!
I've been on this forum for almost 10 years, so not quite new, IMHO. Mostly a watcher - only 24 comments, wich qualifies me as a 'Lurker'
In my experience, the spammers live a short life on most forums: they (automatically) create a new identity - usually random names [+numbers] - post their garbage and then they're gone. Not hard to detect! None of them live, under the same identity, for several years on a forum.
A content analyzer wouldn't also be very hard to implement, these days. Even without using AI.
Anyways, this is the way we have to live now... I would sanction individuals who engage in any kind of internet illegal activities in a much more drastic way than what we have in place today... Many years of imprisonment? Death penalty? Too harsh? Why? What do we have to lose?!
A concerned non-spammer.
