I thought it was me!
The messages are slightly different - rather than "A Comment has ..." etc it seems to always start with "Code Project:"
A recent "fix" has still to be unfixed.
So Chris has tasked me with finding out what went wrong with his 'fix'.
Time to don my hard hat, grab some ropes, extra batteries for the flashlight and descend into the murky caves of the code.
This could be in a number of places, but I'll find it.

Now, it did not happen again today, at least not for me. Good luck
Well it is still happening:
Two emails for every response in QA from other people.
One email for every comment I post.
Faced it today again, while adding in Q/A a comment to an answer from me.
I hope it helps...
While adding a comment to one of my answers in Q/A I will receive a message that I commented.
This is now partially fixed. I no longer receive emails with the comments that I add to a question. But I still receive two messages for other people's comments.
We are now back to the problem of duplicate messages and messages for our own replies. Would it not be an idea to back out Chris's fix completely, and go back to a system that worked perfectly for 99% of us?
I hope you are fine while descending in the murky caves. Only for your information:
And when clicking the screenshot in the above comment I get:
How are those murky caves? You've been down there a while - do we need to send Elon Musk down in a submarine to rescue you?
The notifications for your own QA comments, along with double notifications of other users' comments, are still happening. I'm assuming the bug was harder to track down than you first thought.

I posted this comment: How do I recover deleted photos from windows 10[^] and got an email to say I did it ... it was a reply to a comment by Richard Deeming to a solution I posted, but I've never had an email for that kind of thing before.
Change? Bug? I dunno. Odd though.

I think there's a != sign that the compiler is just totally ignoring.
I mean: it couldn't be my bug, right? Right?
I'll get right on it...

No, no - definitely not. One of the minions did it, I'm sure ...
