What server technology are you using? ASP.NET, PHP or what?
What payment method are you using? PayPal, Google Checkout or what?
What do you actually need to send? Email? Download? Streaming? Or what? How big is the ebook data?
What email services do you have? SMTP? Exchange? Or what?
What have you tried so far? What went wrong? Error messages?

Before payment you must be taking (if not, you should!) the mailing address of the user. Once you get the payment, you should process the book - postal mail it to the address.

Confirmation of what? Automatic email for when? All the time you have events with you, submit request, payment completion, etc. Whenever you need, use the event and send an email then.
