I never considered such questions as quite correct. The issue here is: the best chose of reading heavily depends on one's background; and we don't know your background. For certain reasonable levels of experience, the best would be
Get Started with ASP.NET | The ASP.NET Site[^]; see also the menu "Learn" on the top page of this site.

Also, take a look at the right side of this page — you will find posts which can give you some ideas. It's possible that you will need to try several different books and course, before you decide to focus on one or two of them.
