License clarification needed

TO Chris Maunder:
Can you please clarify your licensing? Specifically, in a project such as hyperlink-control, where you state: "May not be sold for profit."
Does this mean it cannot be used at all in a commercial product? even when unmodified?

I'm advising a commercial company regarding their use of open source.

pwasser is correct, this is not the correct forum. Although it is possible Chris will stumble upon this post, it is unlikely.

On another note, I think you need to be much more specific about what you need clarified.
Most of the CPOL license[^] seems clear enough to me, but then again, I am not a lawyer so there might be holes in it that I don't see.

I wouldn't want to take advice from someone who invents statements that don't exist in a document. Also, there is a forum at the end of the article where you could have posted your question.

In disbelief, I re-read the CPOL, which I of course read quite a while ago and — surprisingly or not — I did not find a single case where the word "profit" occurs.

At the same time, the present-time SPOL version says:
You agree not to sell, lease, or rent any part of the Work. This does not restrict
you from including the Work or any part of the Work inside a larger software
distribution that itself is being sold. The Work by itself, though, cannot be sold,
leased or rented.

In other words, you can use the work in commercial products which you can cell for for profit.

It looks like the restriction you mentioned is just your fantasy; perhaps you need to learn paying more attention for what you read. :-)
