Interaction with web cam through java and capturing image

How can I communicate with web cam through java? I have a plane to capture images and then store the images in the database.I am using Netbeans 6.1 as IDE,Jboss Apllication Server, PostgreSQL 8.4 and no framework like Struts or Spring are adopted. Please help me.
